So far, a successful few years for Devon County Wedding Cars, many happy couples and families and some delightful people we have met during the last few years and hopefully helped make their day more special.
Enquiries have come from Brides and Grooms from Derbyshire to Dorset who have chosen glorious Devon to celebrate their wedding in. We are now on Instagram as well and also can be found on the wedding wire app.
We have met and made links with local businesses during the year and hope to add more connections as time goes on. New links we now have are Crown & Co. Botanicals and Interiors in South Molton, (direct link above as they are part of the Devon County Wedding family business). Visit them at their shop in East St. or call for a personal consultation.
In addition, we now have a link up with Ashridge Court Barn wedding venue in North Tawton and the Fox and Hounds Hotel in Eggesford and we continue our great relationship with Millbrook in Umberleigh.
This year we have supported a couple of charity events in Devon and hope to do more as we go on next year too including a charity most dear to our heart of Guide Dogs.
Shows and Fayres we attend such as Killerton and the Lynmouth Classic and including Powderham on the 8th and 9th of July, Braunton Wheels, Paignton -Torbay Wheels and again Dunster Castle National Trust day as well.
3 photo shoots for the cars for Motoring magazines including Practical Classics and Mini Magazine for the Mini(of course!) one for the A40 for Classics Monthly were very successful.
The James Young R Type Bentley was finally finished and ready for duty in Summer 2017 and has been our most requested vehicle. (thanks to Andy and the team at AM Restorations in Plympton!).
60 years of use and wear means once it was repainted in a classic Shell Grey with the top being in Dark Maroon. They are original Bentley paint codes as would have been applied at the time.
Collected by Pro Car Solutions (thanks Jim!) to have the wood refitted and new headlining installed by Garry Holt (thanks Garry!) and it was then taken straight to Bensport near Ilminster (thanks Bob and Andrew!) for service and brake adjustment.
So, now restored to its former glory and in the best possible condition for our brides it has had a lot of time and money invested in it to achieve a fantastic result. We are still refining it and making little improvements as we go but it was great to have it finally turn a wheel to its first wedding last summer.
We were even able to return back to Holsworthy to take Garry who redid the interior including the beautiful woodwork and his Bride to their wedding day August Holiday Weekend which delighted the whole family.
We have had a great year and now look forward to 2018 again and transporting many more happy couples.
We have been lucky enough to do 3 photo shoots over the past few years, one taken by Laurens Parsons and the feature written by Andrew Roberts (who regularly has columns in the Independent and The Telegraph and other respected publications) back in September with the Mini and published May 2016.
Another more recently for our friends at Mini Magazine and again written by Andrew with Mini Mag editor Jeff Ruggles and published July 2016. This time the images were taken by the excellent Through A Lupe Photographic who has also recently taken some of the A40 Farina for a classics magazine which is yet to be announced. (See links page for Through A Lupe who also do weddings of course).
The magazine covers are here along with the articles. Reproduced by kind permission and copyright of Practical Classics and Mini Magazine respectively.
Included here are the Mini photo’s with the A40 ones to follow once the magazine is out on the shelves.
We have had some interest in featuring the James Young Bentley R Type when it returns when it might well return to the Smoke for a comparison article with the Silver Dawn…….. so watch this space……
